One of the reasons I love writing books for kids and teens is because books are the best conversation starters. They make us think about big ideas and all kinds of possibilities. Also: young people are the best readers. They give me hope. They make me see the world in a new way. (Not just the Rube Goldberg complicated way!) When I write a book, or talk to other writers, or work with kids, I love to explore the power of curiosity and play. I want to have fun--and make writing fun for others. Here is the thing about story: everyone has one. And there is room for all of them. We learn from each other. And together, while we are having fun, we make the world a better place.
