After working in the advertising industry as a writer in three countries (India, Malaysia, and South Africa), Gauri has found her joy in writing for children. A Kurta to Remember is her debut picture book. Born and raised in India, she proudly carries her culture wherever she goes. She also illustrates content for a program called S.H.I.N.E (Spiritual Heritage of India for Next-Gen Empowerment) that shares the wonders and glory of India with children. She now lives in Chicago with her husband and daughter. You can find her on Instagram at @gauri_dalvi_pandya. Gauri is grateful for winning the Own Voices Own Stories Award (2022) by Sleeping Bear Press that landed her a publishing contract for her debut picture book, A Kurta To Remember, illustrated by Avani Dwivedi, which is now nominated for the 2025 Pedro and Daniel Intersectionality Book Awards Longlist. She also won the SCBWI Many Voices Prize in 2021 and was a #PBPartyFinalist in the same year. She continues to work on her craft by being an active Gold member of 12 x 12 and a member of SCBWI.
