I am a Chicago writer with degrees from Columbia College Chicago and National University (San Diego, CA), and I’ve worked in the field of disability rights and services for most of my professional life. I fell in love with books when I was eight and started writing when I was nine. I aim to write the kinds of stories I enjoyed as a child, as well as stories I wish had existed. I’d like to help kids in difficult situations know that they're not alone, that goodness and kindness exist. My picture book Saturday at the Food Pantry, illustrated by Brizida Magro and published by Albert Whitman & Co., was Parents Magazine’s October 2021 book club selection, and my picture book Please Be OK: A Story About Addiction, illustrated by Anastasiya Kanavaliuk, will be out in October 2024. I completed the 24-hour Poetry Marathon in 2023 and 2024, and two of my marathon poems are included in the anthologies. My works have also appeared in LADYBUG magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, the South Side Weekly, and It All Changed in an Instant: More Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous & Obscure.
